Section A: The Word of God

Key Objective: To understand that I am safe and have assurance in God forever

Knowing about your new relationship with God and being sure of your salvation is so important. Answers to every problem in your life are provided by your salvation.

Assurance of salvation means to know for certain that you belong to God. Our assurance (or confidence) is of a subjective nature. Eternal security is objective. Whether we feel saved or not, the Bible objectively states, "…whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

If I must do something to keep my salvation, I will be motivated by fear of losing my salvation or motivated by guilt that I have not done enough. Neither of these motives will sustain my Christian walk. I must be motivated by the love of Christ.

Luke 19:10
I was lost, yet Jesus sought me out.

I had the wrath of God abiding on me.

I was spiritually dead in my sins.

I was a servant of sin.

I believed in my heart. I did not trust in my prayer. Salvation is not just a simple “repeat after me” experience. I trusted Christ alone for my need.

Section B: Promises of Eternal Security

Key Objective: To know the promises of assurance in God’s Word

The list of books of the Bible is in the front of your Bible. The books of the Bible are not arranged in order of the dates that they were written. They are arranged by categories (history, poetry, prophets, Gospels, epistles, and revelation).

The Word of God, or the Holy Bible (sometimes called the Holy Scriptures) is not like any other book. The Bible has always been the world’s number one bestseller.

2 Timothy 3:16–17
The way in which God gave us the Bible is called “inspiration.” This word means God-breathed, meaning every word was breathed out from God. According to this verse, how much of the Bible is inspired? ALL.

These inspired Scriptures are profitable in our lives for doctrine (what is right), for reproof (what is wrong), for correction (how to get it right) and instruction (how to keep it right).

Matthew 5:17–18
The Bible would be fulfilled down to each jot (the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet—visible in some Bibles in the letter after Psalm 119:72 and each tittle (the smallest accent mark in Hebrew—visible in some Bibles after Psalm 119:56 and 168). The Bible is indestructible.

Mark 7:1–9
Jesus wants each disciple to follow God’s Word and not man’s traditions. It is our guide.

Luke 16:31
The Bible is sufficient to tell us how to get to Heaven.

If we do not stand firm on the doctrine of the Bible, we are destroying our foundation. If the foundation is faulty, each subsequent doctrine will be shaky at best. What we believe about each major doctrine, we find in the Bible. If the Bible is corrupted or changed, we no longer have a final authority for our beliefs and practices.

Psalm 138:2
Since Almighty God has all power, He can easily preserve His Word.

Proverbs 30:5-6
Do not add to His Words.

Revelation 22:19
No one should take away from His words.

God is the author of the Bible, and we must take it as the only authority for all we believe and do.

Section C: Promise of the Holy Spirit

Key Objective: To understand the Holy Spirit dwells in us

John 16:7
The Spirit is our Comforter.

John 16:8
The Spirit convicts us of our sin.

Ephesians 1:13
Every Christian is sealed with the Spirit.

Ephesians 1:14
The Spirit is our earnest (guarantee).

John 5:24
The life I now have is everlasting.

Ephesians 2:8–9
Salvation is a gift from God.

Philippians 1:6
God finishes what He begins in us.

1 Peter 1:5
I am kept by the power of God. He has all power.

Section D: Your New Relationship with God

Key Objective: To understand our addition to the family of God

John 3:3
We are born into this family. God promises us that we will never be disowned.

Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:5
We are adopted into this family. God promises us that we will never be disinherited.

By accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you are saved now and forever, and you can know it for certain! Because you are a believer, you can now become a disciple of Jesus Christ. Here are some practical tips to make your salvation real to you.
